Tuula 26th April 2022

From Shane's colleagues at the King's College Hospital and the wider Sickle Cell Community, Shane was our inaugural support officer for the National Haemoglobinopathies Panel. We all knew him as a kind and quiet soul who was incredibly committed to his role. We all remember his friendly manner and how he was always ready to go over and above to ensure that everything run smoothly. Prof Inusa, Chair of the National Panel, and I met him several times during his treatment and he always apologised for not able to contribute to the NHP work. The structures and processes Shane implemented in his role have left us a solid foundation on, which to build on. Due to the pandemic and the nature of the National Panel that Shane supported, many clinicians and managers, who liaised with Shane regularly, never met him in person, but he is remembered by us all and our thoughts and prayers are with all Shane's Family and Friends. With much love, Tuula Rintala, Service Manager, King's College Hospital
